when my body walked

when my body walks
on the floor of damage
whatever had fallen there
did not name itself decay
and when it moved through the trees of resurrection
they did not call out
time comes in rings

when my body was carried
by the river current
no voice pronounced
there is a law to following
and when rain turned hair on my head into streams
there was no small talk about the point of origins

my body took me for granted
the way mountains do
when even the grandeur of darkness
ignored its sleep
and when the wind blew softly on the coals of the horizon
it rose up the the sun
with all of its hunger intact
